BackstreetBiofrom Delacorte
Jason Britton -- 5/1/00

Delacorte Books for Young Readers has acquired world rights to Backstreet Boys: The Official Book, the first and only book authorized by the multi-platinum-selling pop band. Unlike the 20-plus unauthorized books about the group that already exist, this 128-page hardcover will be a photographic scrapbook containing exclusive, never-before-seen photos taken by the band's official photographer.

Although there are no plans for the band to tour to promote the book, Random House plans an aggressive marketing and publicity campaign to include such venues as the Backstreet Boys Web site (www.backstreetboys.com) and teen magazines.

Beverly Horowitz, v-p, deputy publisher and editor-in-chief of Random House Children's Books, acquired the book in cooperation with the Jelly Baby Group, an artist management company in the music business, and Andre Csillag, the band's photographer.
