Charles H. Fischer III has been named v-p and chief operating officer at DK Publishing. He had been president and chief executive officer at U.S. Media Holdings Inc., the parent company of Stewart, Tabori & Chang, Smithmark and Golden Turtle Press, which went bankrupt last summer (News, July 31, 2000).
Before joining U.S. Media, Fischer worked at Von Holtzbrinck Publishing in New York where he led the team that designed and built a 400,000-square-foot distribution center, similar in size to the new distribution center built by DK in Nashville. The company will soon complete the transition of accounts previously serviced by Publisher's Resources Inc. to this new facility.
In a related move, v-p of operations Charlie Generelli will now be based in Nashville to supervise the distribution center's processing and fulfillment activities on a full-time basis.
