Barbara Delinsky is enjoying her strongest first week of sales with her newest bestseller, The Woman Next Door, with 240,000 copies in print after four trips to press; it's #5 on PW's hardcover fiction list. Simon & Schuster noted that her sales for week #1 were 37% ahead of her previous hardcover bestseller The Vineyard at the top five retail accounts. This week, that title lands on PW's mass market list, in the #8 slot. Pocket reports a total of 1,050,000 copies in print of the paperback after two trips to press. Delinsky has published more than 65 novels since she began in 1980; they total more than 28 million copies in print worldwide, in some 25 languages. Delinsky makes her first foray into nonfiction next month, when Pocket Books publishes Uplift: Secrets from the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer Survivors. It offers practical advice and tips she culled from 350 breast cancer survivors and their friends and families. A survivor herself, Delinsky plans to donate all of her proceeds from Uplift to breast cancer research.
