The illustrated book publisher Hudson Hills Press has been acquired by Gallery Press LLC. Based in Manchester, Vt., Gallery, directed by Randall Perkins and Leslie van Breen, has carved a niche as a fine arts publisher primarily for individual clients such as museums and artists.

Hudson Hills will become Gallery's trade publishing imprint and Hudson founder Paul Anbinder will continue to direct editorial operations from New York. Back-office services will be moved to Manchester, although National Book Network will continue as Hudson Hills' North American distributor. Van Breen said the Hudson Hills purchase moves Gallery "more quickly into a faster lane." Title output will remain between 15 and 18 in the short term, but van Breen hopes to increase the Hudson Hills list over time. Van Breen said she has not encountered the sales decline reported by some other fine arts and illustrated book publishers. "There's plenty of business," she said.
