Elsevier Science has completed the acquisition of the medical publisher Hanley & Belfus from the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group. Terms weren't disclosed. Hanley will become part of Elsevier's health sciences division, which includes such imprints as Saunders, Mosby and Churchill Livingstone.

Hanley has more than 400 titles in print and publishes 10 medical specialty journals as well as electronic products. Its best known lines are its Secrets series and Pearls series of medical review and board certification products. Linda Belfus, company cofounder and CEO, will join Elsevier Science as a senior editor, while the company's sales, marketing, production and electronic product development areas will be integrated into the health sciences division.
