After a long search, HarperCollins U.K. has appointed Sally Gritten as managing director of its children's division. She replaces Katie Fulford, who has been acting director since May. Gritten will take up the post in January 2003. Formerly marketing director at Puffin, she has also worked as a consultant for a range of clients, including publishers Walker Books and Random House and film company Aardman Animations.

In a statement, HC U.K. general books managing director Amanda Ridout said, "Collins Children's Books is ready to take the next step in its development towards becoming the most successful and creative company in children's publishing. Sally is the perfect person to work with the team to drive the business forward."
