Phyllis Fogelman, longtime children's book editor and publisher, has resigned as v-p and publisher of Phyllis Fogelman Books, an imprint of Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers. Fogelman began at Dial Books for Young Readers, then an imprint of Dutton, in 1966; she was eventually named president and publisher. She was given her own imprint in 1998. Fogelman said she intends "to keep my hand in publishing, but in a different role." During her career, authors and illustrators published by Fogelman won two Newbery Awards and two Caldecott Awards.

Penguin will phase out the Fogelman imprint by year-end, and the 44 titles published to date will be folded into Dial. All Phyllis Fogelman titles under contract that have not yet been published will be published by Dial.
