Joe Tessitore, most recently president of Grolier Publishing, has been named managing director of the Publishing Group in the media division at Reed Business Information, which includes Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, Críticas and School Library Journal.

Tad Smith, president of the media division, said the appointment is part of the publishing group's strategic plan to drive growth. Tessitore, who will begin Nov. 11, will be responsible for business strategy, marketing, sales, Web development and licensing. He will also be responsible for setting priorities among the group's business options and translating these options into revenue and profit.

Fred Ciporen, v-p, group publisher, said, "Joe will work with our magazines to help create added value for our customers."

Before joining Grolier, Tessitore was president of Prentice Hall Direct and was a senior v-p and board member at Warren Gorham Lamont.
