'Pamela' Takes Center Stage

Here's a case of life imitating art and art imitating life. Pamela's First Musical (Hyperion, 1996), a picture book about a girl's first live theater experience by Pulitzer Prize—winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein (The Heidi Chronicles), illus. by Andrew Jackness, is being adapted as a family-friendly show this month at a Lincoln Center Theater workshop. Songwriters Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity; City of Angels) and David Zippel (City of Angels) have penned a song called "It Started with a Dream," which will be featured in the show. Wasserstein has developed the libretto and Graciela Daniele will direct and choreograph the production.
