The decision to trim the number of titles in its adult trade division has led to several editorial layoffs at Simon & Schuster. According to sources, the publisher has let go Free Press senior editor Rachel Klayman, most recently known for editing Holy War, Peter Bergen's investigative look at Osama bin Laden. Also cut was editor Jeff Neuman from S&S, while Atria's Kim Kanner and Washington Square Press's Rosemary Ahern were also let go. A source said that as a percentage of the adult division's overall number of books, the title reductions will be in the single digits.
