A first collection of stories by playwright and movie screenwriter/director Neil LaBute has gone to Morgan Entrekin at Grove Atlantic, who bought it from Suzanne Gluck at William Morris. Though his fiction has been overshadowed by his movie and theater work, including In the Company of Men and the current off-Broadway hit The Mercy Seat, LaBute has been writing short fiction for years and has published in the New Yorker, Harper's Bazaar and elsewhere; many of the pieces in the collection have been previously published. It was a world rights buy, and Entrekin expects to publish next year.
