Thomas Nelson increased its stake in the Bible market last month with the acquisition of certain assets from World Bible Publishers, a division of RiversideWorld Inc. Nelson's Vance Lawson said the company acquired approximately 1,000 titles from World Bible; about 70% to 80% of the titles are Bibles.

Nelson will operate World Bible Publishers as a wholly owned subsidiary under Terry Draughon, who has been named v-p and publisher. Draughon had been World Bible's publisher. World Bible's sales and editorial offices in Nashville will eventually be moved to Nelson's Nashville headquarters, and Nelson will take over the distribution of the line from Riverside over the next few months, Lawson said. Riverside, based in Iowa Falls, Iowa, sold the publishing unit to refocus on distribution.
