Scholastic has created a new top level position for strategic planning and business development and tapped a publishing outsider to fill the post. Heather Myers, who headed business development for Universal Studios and most recently served as a consultant, was appointed to the new position and will also be a Scholastic senior v-p. Myers will work with all of Scholastic's business unit heads, addressing such issues as resource allocation, business development and new business ventures. She will report to Scholastic chairman Dick Robinson.
