Currently on a three-week safari in Africa, travel writer Patricia Schultz still hasn't visited all the spots covered in her bestseller, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. The book is right below the top 15 on PW's trade paper list. Workman is sending her back out on the road in May and so far has scheduled six cities (Chicago; Cincinnati, Ohio; New Orleans; Miami and Tampa, Fla.; and Washington, D.C.). Back in September, when the book was first published, Schultz did a 15-city tour. Travelocity.com just finished a "Stop Dreaming Get Going!" promotion based on the book; Schultz chose the destinations for five trip giveaways. Publicist Nicki Clendening noted that at the office, staffers have been comparing notes on who's been where (publisher Bruce Harris has visited the most places) and which new places they want to see after having read the book (Clendening wants to go to Cappadocia, Turkey—page 472). Total copies in print after 11 trips to press: 400,000; first printing was 30,000.
