Adrian Sington, who founded Boxtree in 1990, has acquired a minority stake in Virgin Books and was also named executive chairman of the company. Sington said his role at Virgin will be "to expand the existing operations into a bigger business, acquiring properties and copyrights in markets where the Virgin brand has an increasing presence, especially the United States and Australia. We will take the business to the next stage." Virgin titles will revolve around popular culture, fiction, nonfiction and the erotica list, which the company plans to expand.

The Virgin senior management team has also added Ray Brash as chief operating officer. Sington and Brash will both work with managing director K.T. Forster.
