Linda Ball Scovill, who had a long career in professional publishing, died August 5 at her home in Jacksonville, Ore. She was 63. Scovill began her publishing career at Harvard University Press before moving to New York in 1972 to run the direct-mail operation for George McGovern's presidential campaign. She returned to publishing as head of advertising and promotion for Oxford University Press and held executive spots at Appleton & Lange and Harper & Row before forming her own medical publishing and consulting company, Scovill.Paterson.
