Booksellers took their drive to amend Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act to Capitol Hill last week, delivering a petition signed by 180,000 readers that calls for an end to the government’s ability to arbitrarily examine bookstore and library records. Presenting Vermont Congressman Bernie Sanders (center) with the signatures are Carla Hayden (past president of the ALA), Salman Rushdie (president of PEN American Center), Pat Schroeder (AAP president) and Oren Teicher (ABA COO).
