Lemke to Seven Stories



Meg Lemke has been appointed editor at Seven Stories Press. Formerly an assistant editor in Houghton Mifflin's adult trade division, where she launched the Best American Comics series, Lemke will acquire nonfiction, literary fiction and graphic novels.

PGW Hires Benitez

Publishers Group Worldwide, a division of Publishers Group West, has named Edward Benitez regional director for Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Benitez, who was most recently at Simon & Schuster's trade marketing division for Latin America and the Caribbean, will be working to expand PGW's presence in Latin American and the Middle East in the newly created position.

Benjamin to Sterling

On the heels of Joe Guadango's departure from Sterling Publishing as v-p of finance and warehouse operations, the house has named Jim Benjamin his successor. Benjamin was most recently at Baker & Taylor.

Ingram Gets Kirchner

Harry Kirchner has joined the national accounts sales team at Ingram Publisher Services. Kirchner was most recently a national accounts director at Publishers Group West.

Pierpont to Clarkson Potter

Amy Pierpont has joined Clarkson Potter as a senior editor. Previously a senior editor at Pocket Books, Pierpont will be acquiring titles in the lifestyle category in her new job. At Pocket, she worked on titles by such authors as Fern Michaels, Linda Lael Miller, Kat Martin and Lauren Weisberger.

Aparicio to Scholastic

Eduardo Aparicio has been named managing director of English-language learning (ELL) at Scholastic Education. Aparicio was previously executive editor for ELL/bilingual at Harcourt Achieve.

Hirsch Up at Harcourt Children's

Gretchen Hirsch has been promoted from editorial assistant to assistant editor at Harcourt Children's Books. Hirsch will be relocating from Harcourt's San Diego, Calif., office to its New York location.

Farthing Up At Kaplan

Jennifer Farthing has been promoted to editorial director for the education and business groups at Kaplan Publishing. Farthing was previously focused on just the education group, where she oversaw test prep and school admissions titles.

Schuck, Staehle Promoted at HC

Mary Schuck and Will Staehle have both been promoted at HarperCollins. Schuck, who's been at the house since 2004, has been bumped up from senior art director to v-p and creative director overseeing Harper, Harper Perennial, Harper paperbacs, Ecco, Amistad, HarperAudio and Avon Trade Paperbacks. Staehle has been promoted from design manager to art director of Harper.
