More than 600 publishers, authors and media members attended the second Quill Awards October 10. NBC News' Lester Holt presided over the gala, where awards were presented to authors who were voted their favorites by the reading public in 19 categories. The Book of the Year went to Tyler Perry's Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings, published by Riverhead Books. The Quills are presented by Reed Business Information (parent of PW) and NBC Universal.
