Ackroyd Joins Quayside

Peter Ackroyd has been named v-p of sales and marketing at the Massachusetts-based Quayside Publishing Group. Ackroyd, who had headed Element Books and Tuttle, will be working out of the publisher's Gloucester office.

Oakes to Atlas

John Oakes, former publisher and editorial director of Thunder's Mouth Press, has joined Atlas Books as executive editor. He will be acquiring nonfiction, current affairs, history, biography and popular science.

Hire, Promo At Public Affairs

Lindsay Jones has been promoted to editor at Public Affairs. She's worked on such books as Marjorie Williams's The Woman at the Washington Zoo and Kenneth Turan's Never Coming to a Theater Near You. Morgen Van Vorst, coming from W.W. Norton, is joining Public Affairs as an editor.

Conlin to S&S Sales

Jim Conlin has been named national account manager in the sales team at Simon & Schuster. He will sell to Barnes & Noble, with Elena Blanco, and be responsible for imprints like S&S BFYR, Pulse, Little Simon and Simon Spotlight.

Goodman to PSUP

Penn State University Press has named Eleanor Goodman executive editor for the humanities. She was most recently head of programs at the library at University of Virginia.

Kate Kazeniac has been promoted to associate director of publicity, Da Capo Press and Da Capo Lifelong Books.
