Adelaide Docx has been named U.S. associate editor at Granta magazine. Docx has worked for a number of houses, including Picador U.K., Random House U.S. and Carroll & Graf.

Moore Up at Sourcebooks

Heather Moore has been promoted to senior publicity manager at Sourcebooks. She was hired in 2002 as assistant publicist. Also at Sourcebooks, Whitney Lehman has been promoted to assistant publicity manager and named the publicist for Sourcebooks Jabberwocky, the company’s new children’s imprint.

Loomis Up at Graphic World

Michael J. Loomis has been named executive v-p of operations at Graphic World Inc., a provider of integrated publishing solutions based in St. Louis. Loomis joined the company’s composition group in 1985 and was named v-p of publishing services in 1993.

Levine Up at Grand Central

Jaime Levine has been promoted to executive editor at Grand Central Publishing. Levine, who’s been at the publisher for 10 years, has worked on the books of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and has brought authors like Jacqueline Carey and Carrie Vaughn into the fold. As of last year, she’s also taken on editing the house’s bestselling Robert Ludlum novels.

Franco to Osprey

Jay Franco has been named head of business development and special projects at the New York—based military history house, Osprey Publishing. Franco arrives from Doubleday Entertainment, where he spent 10 years as the Military Book Club buyer. Before joining Doubleday, Franco worked for John Wiley and Marvel.

Spielman to SharedBook

Mark Spielman has been named v-p of business development at SharedBook, a New York—based tech company that offers on-demand publishing services. Spielman has worked for entertainment and wireless companies like BrainMedia and txtunes.

Obituary: Jane Pasanen

Veteran publishing exec Jane Pasanen died October 22. Pasanen worked for a number of houses—Macmillan, Dutton and Henry Holt among them—from the early 1970s through the ’80s, handling campaigns for profile authors like John Irving and Joyce Carol Oates, as well as celebrities like Charlton Heston. Later in her career she founded the Chelsea Forum, an independent lecture agency. A memorial will be held November 30 at the Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson Street in Manhattan.
