Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows continues to impact results in 2008 as the AAP reported that sales in the children's hardcover and audiobook segments plunged in July, falling 77.2% and 65.8%, respectively. Hallows shattered sales records in both categories last July. Most other segments, however, posted gains in the month with the university press and professional categories the only other categories reporting a July sales decline. The nine publishers in the mass market paperback segment reported sales up 29.6% in July, and sales rose 36.4% for the 14 children's paperback publishers that reported to the AAP in the month. The 71.1% sales increase reported by 13 e-book publishers in July brought sales in the first seven months up to $26.7 million.
