Emily Haynes has been named editor at Chronicle Books. Haynes, who arrives from Plume, will be working on pop culture, humor and media tie-ins in her new job.

Sper to Simon Spotlight

Sarah Sper has been named entertainment editor at Simon Spotlight Entertainment. Sper arrives from Hachette's Center Street imprint and has worked on such titles as The G-Free Diet by Elisabeth Hasselback and How to Be Fierce by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano.

Sullivan to Basic Books

Tim Sullivan has been named executive editor at Basic Books. Sullivan, who was senior editor at Porfolio, will focus on economics, business, politics and sociology. Sullivan has acquired such books as Mike Huckabee's memoir Do the Right Thing.

Cook Up at HMH

Amanda Cook has been promoted from senior editor to executive editor at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She's been at the house four years and her authors include Paul Davies, Lee Smolin and Stephen Baker.

Scholder to Feminist Press

Amy Scholder has been named editorial director of the Feminist Press at CUNY. Scholder has worked in various capacities in independent publishing for years, including stints at Seven Stories Press, Verso Books, Serpent's Tail and City Lights Publishers.
