RosettaBooks Debuts Mayo Clinic E-books
RosettaBooks is partnering with the world renowned Mayo Clinic, to release Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, the first of 15 e-book titles to be released this year. The Pennsylvania press Good Books will be issuing paperback editions of the e-book titles. Rosetta will also release an e-book version of The Mayo Clinic Diet, released last year in print by Good Books, which has sold more than 500,000 copies.

Karp Snatches Irving from RH
S&S publisher Jonathan Karp signed bestselling novelist John Irving to a two-book deal, poaching the author from Random House. This is Karp's flashiest acquisition since taking over the flagship imprint and replacing David Rosenthal. S&S will release Irving's next novel, In One Person, in June 2012, with a second book tentatively set for 2015. The deal was brokered by Dean Cooke on behalf of Irving's wife/agent, Janet Turnbull.

PoliPoint Sells Titles
Citing financial pressures, PoliPoint Press has sold the rights to seven of its titles to Berrett-Koehler Publishers and sold the rights to 13 other titles to Paradigm Publishers. PoliPoint publisher Scott Jordan said these title sales will determine "whether we can still exist." Jordan said there will likely be sales of more PoliPoint titles.

S&S to Open India Division
Simon & Schuster is opening a new division in New Delhi, India, that will be overseen by Ian Chapman, managing director and chief executive of S&S UK. The new India office will focus on sales, marketing, and formatting S&S lists for sale in the country and will consider local projects if right for S&S. S&S spokesperson Adam Rothberg said the new office will open with a staff of six and get involved with e-books when the market has developed further.

BISG's Lubeck Resigns
BISG executive director Scott Lubeck has resigned his position and will return to his home in Austin, Tex., to open a new office for the recruiting firm Bert Davis & Associates. BISG deputy executive director Angela Bole will carry out his duties on an interim basis; a search committee has been formed to find candidates for the position. BISG has hired Bert Davis to manage the search.

Amazon Sells More E-Books Than Print
Amazon.com says that it now sells more Kindle e-books than print books—paperback and hardcover—combined. Since April 1, Amazon says it has sold 105 Kindle books for every 100 print books, soft or hardcover, including print titles that do not have Kindle editions. The figures do not include free Kindle titles

Amazon Launches Mystery Imprint
After launching Montlake, a romance imprint, Amazon unveiled its next genre imprint, Thomas & Mercer, which focuses on mysteries and thrillers. Thomas & Mercer will release its first four titles in fall 2011: D.M. Annechino's Resuscitation, J.A. Konrath and Blake Crouch's Stirred, Kyle Mills's The Immortals, and John Rector's Already Gone. As with Montlake, Amazon will be releasing the titles as Kindle editions, but also promises to place print editions in stores.

Pyr to Enter YA Market
Prometheus Books' Pyr imprint is starting a series of science fiction titles aimed at the young adult market. Lou Anders, editorial director of Pyr, will oversee the YA program, which will begin in November with the publication of Lightbringer, an urban fantasy/paranormal romance by K.D. McEntire. Anders has signed six titles, which will be released in hardcover and e-book formats and have their own section in the Pyr catalogue.
