Ingram Buys CourseSmart

Ingram’s VitalSource Technologies has acquired the assets of CourseSmart. Originally founded in 2007 to facilitate the distribution of digital textbooks, CourseSmart expanded its mission to provide a range of digital learning content to the higher education community. CourseSmart offers access to over 90% of core higher education titles as e-textbooks.

Sales, Earnings Fall at Harlequin in 2013

Harlequin posted declines in sales and earnings in 2013, according to parent company Torstar. Revenue fell to C$397.7 million, down 6.7% compared to the prior year, and operating earnings came in at C$52 million, a 29% decline.

HMH Trade Sales Rose 9% In 2013

Sales in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s trade division hit $170.7 million in 2013, up 9% compared to 2012, and adjusted EBITDA declined to $24 million, from $29 million the prior year. HMH’s companywide sales increased 7% in 2013, to $1.38 billion.
