Macmillan Creates New Learning Division

Macmillan is combining its Higher Education and New Ventures units to create a new division called Macmillan Learning. The combined company will be officially launched on Jan. 1, 2016.

Penguin Random House had a solid third quarter, according to an update by Pearson, which has a 47% stake in the company. A string of bestsellers helped offset weaker e-book sales, Pearson reported.

Sourcebooks has acquired Thomas W. Phelan’s bestselling series 1-2-3 Magic. The 13-book parenting line has sold more than 1.6 million copies.
