After four weeks of declines, unit sales bounced back in the week ended Sept. 24, 2017: sales were 4% higher than in the comparable week in 2016 at outlets that report to NPD BookScan. All four major categories had increases in print units; adult nonfiction and juvenile nonfiction each saw an 8% sales increase over the week ended Sept. 25, 2016. In adult nonfiction, six of the 10 top sellers were new to the list. Killing England by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard landed in second place on the category list, selling almost 65,000 copies in its first week. Other newcomers included The TB12 Method by Tom Brady (more than 45,000 copies sold, #3 on the list) and The Paradigm by Jonathan Cahn (more than 24,000 copies sold, #5 on the list). The 8% increase in juvenile nonfiction was accomplished with only one new book hitting high on the bestseller list: Runny Bunny Returns by Shel Silverstein was in fourth place, selling more than 4,000 copies. In juvenile fiction, unit sales of print books were 3% higher than in the similar week in 2016, despite little movement at the top of the bestseller list. Wonder by P.J. Palacio and Dog Man by Dav Pilkey remained one-two on the category list, with Wonder selling almost 23,000 copies and Dog Man more than 22,000. Even the adult fiction segment managed a small sales increase in the week, with units up 0.4%. To Be Where You Are by Jan Karon was the #1 seller in the category in its first week, selling more than 30,000 copies, while Haunted by James Patterson and James O. Born was in second place with almost 28,000 copies sold.
