Gene Yang’s ‘Boxers’ and ‘Saints’ Nominated for 2013 NBA
Gene Yang’s Boxers and Saints (First Second), an imaginative two-book fictional examination of the Chinese Boxer Rebellion, has been shortlisted for the National Book Award nomination for Young Peoples Literature. This is the second time a graphic novel has been nominated for the NBA for YPL.

Comics Get Global at New York Comic-Con
With security and overcrowding issues of past years mostly resolved, New York Comic-Con actually managed to grow in 2013, with an announced attendance of 133,000—roughly the same number as attend July’s Comic-Con International in San Diego. That’s up from an announced 116,000 attendees in 2012.

Viz Manga Comes to Kindle Store
Viz Media, a U.S.-based manga publisher and anime distributor, announced a deal to make its entire catalog of digital manga available through the Amazon Kindle Store. Beginning today, more than 1,500 volumes are available for download for about $6.99 each.
