The Globe Pequot Publishing Group announced today that it has acquired Linden Publishing, the Fresno, Calif.–based press specializing in nonfiction.
Under the deal, Linden’s operations will relocate to Connecticut, where Globe Pequot will “likely” continue publishing new titles under the imprint name, per a spokeswoman. Judith Schnell, Globe Pequot's publisher, will oversee the Linden imprint.
Founded in 1980, Linden has built a reputation as a leading publisher of woodworking and arts & crafts titles, which it publishes under its flagship imprint. Linden’s backlist, comprising some 275 titles, also includes general nonfiction, fiction, and books on California regional history.
“Linden Publishing has long been a cornerstone in the woodworking and crafts space,” said Bob Marsh, president of Globe Pequot. “This acquisition allows us to deepen our presence in these categories while leveraging the rich backlist and intellectual property Linden has developed over decades. We see tremendous opportunity to expand these titles through new formats, merchandising, and cross-promotion across our lists.”
Linden VP Kent Sorsky, added, “I can’t overstate how pleased I am that it is Globe Pequot, specifically, that is acquiring our line of books. I can’t think of a better home for our titles, which fit quite naturally into Globe Pequot’s existing catalog.”
Globe Pequot has more than 14,000 active titles and publishes around 350 books annually. Since its 2024 sale of the Rowman & Littlefield academic division to Bloomsbury for $83 million, Globe Pequot has pursued an aggressive acquisitions strategy. Most recently, it bought cookbook press Lake Isle in January, following four acquisitions in 2025.
