San Francisco–based publisher Marble Press has acquired the catalog and intellectual property assets of CamCat Books from Baker & Taylor, which is currently in liquidation, in an asset purchase executed on December 30. The transaction includes 124 adult and YA titles.

Marble was cofounded by Jon Collins-Black and Susan Szecsi in 2021 as a boutique children’s publisher. The CamCat acquisition will bring adult titles into the fold of Marble’s operations.

B&T announced its acquisition of CamCat in early 2025. CamCat founder, CEO, and publisher Sue Arroyo died in March 2024, at the age of 57. Seven months later, interim CEO and editorial director Helga Schier also died, at 64.

CamCat was founded in 2018 as an independent publisher of genre and speculative fiction, and went on to develop a catalog spanning science fiction, fantasy, horror, romantasy, and literary crossover titles.

CamCat is distributed by B&T Publisher Services, which in November was purchased by Lakeside Book Company. Szecsi said that CamCat titles will continue to be distributed by Lakeside. She noted that effective March 2, Marble titles, which were also distributed by BTPS, will move to Stable Books Distribution.

Szecsi said that Marble plans to publish 10-15 new YA and adult titles under the CamCat banner per year.

“CamCat built a strong and distinctive catalog with committed authors and readers," Szecsi said in a statement. "We are pleased to provide continuity for the catalog while integrating these titles into Marble Press's long-term publishing strategy.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
