Lecrae Lands at Zondervan

Margaret Riley King and Mel Berger of WME Entertainment sold North American and non-exclusive open market rights to Zondervan senior acquisition editor Mick Silva for a new book by Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Lecrae Moore (Unashamed). Drawing on personal experience with trauma, conflicts with family and the church, as well as personal challenges, I Am Restored: How I Lost My Religion but Found My Faith, which is slated for publication on October 13, 2020, “is about the journey toward healing,” Lecrae said in a statement.

Dooley Re-Ups with WaterBrook

WaterBrook senior editor Susan Tjaden acquired world rights from Bryan Norman at Alive Literary to two nonfiction books by Jordan Lee Dooley (Own Your Everyday). The first book in the deal, tentatively titled Own Your Ambition, is slated for publication in May 2021. It features tools for readers to follow their dreams while avoiding the pressure to overwork oneself, according to the publisher. A second book will follow.

Brazos Takes a Memoir on Autism

Keely Boeving of WordServe Literary Group sold world rights to Brazos Press acquiring editor Katelyn Beaty for Notes from the Spectrum by Daniel Bowman Jr. Bowman, who is a poet, novelist, and an English professor at Taylor University, describes receiving an autism diagnosis as an adult before exploring how those on the spectrum offer a better understanding of God, relationships, and faith, according to the publisher. Notes from the Spectrum is scheduled for publication in summer 2021.

Fortress Takes on 'Messy Minimalism'

In a deal brokered directly with the author, Valerie Weaver-Zercher at Broadleaf Books bought world rights to a book about “messy minimalism” by abundantlifewithless blogger Rachelle Crawford. The yet-to-be-titled book encourages readers to adopt a rational, sustainable, and grace-based form of minimalism for a more peaceful home and undistracted life, according to the publisher. Publication is slated for fall 2021.

Online Influencer Kat Harris Doubles Up

Stephanie Smith, associate publisher at Zondervan, took world rights from Jana Burson of the Christopher Ferebee Agency to two books by lifestyle influencer and The Refined Woman blogger Kat Harris. The first yet-to-be-titled book is slated for publication in spring 2021. It will feature tools geared toward single women of faith for finding clarity, hope, and freedom, according to the publisher. Information about the second book in the deal is not yet available.
