Katara Washington, senior editor at Our Daily Bread Publishing, bought world rights from Jevon Bolden at Embolden Media Group to consultant and leadership coach Jeanne Porter King’s Caring Well: An African American Caregiver's 90-Day Self-Care Devotional, which is scheduled for publication in winter 2024. The book centers on the caregiver’s need to be well in body, soul, and spirit, providing daily Scripture readings and reflections that focus on those needs and speak into the cultural value and personal price of caregiving.

John Bevere Moves to W

W Publishing senior acquisitions editor Kyle Olund bought world-rights from Esther Fedorkevich of The Fedd Agency to John Bevere’s The Awe of God: The Astounding Way a Healthy Fear of God Transforms Your Life. The book is slated for release in February 2023. Bevere—international bestselling author of more than 20 books, including most recently Killing Kryptonite—invites readers to take a fresh look at what it means to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, which can lead to a more fulfilled and fruitful life, according to the publisher.

Broadleaf Acquires Psychotherapist’s Book on Emotions

Jarrod Harrison, associate editor at Broadleaf Books, acquired world rights from Julie Gwinn of The Seymour Agency to Anger Solutions: Proven Strategies for Effectively Resolving Anger and Taking Control of Your Emotions by Julie A. Christiansen, M.A., R.P. Christiansen uses her insights, gained over 30 years of working as a registered psychotherapist and mental health worker, to help others better understand what emotions are, including anger, and how to manage them. The book is slated for publication in spring 2024.

Beaming Nabs a Progressive Storybook Bible

Beaming Books acquisitions editor Naomi Krueger bought world rights to The Just Love Story Bible by Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis (Fierce Love) and Rev. Dr. Shannon Daley-Harris (Hope for the Future), to be illustrated by Cheryl “Ras” Thuesday (Kind Like Marsha). Todd Schuster at Aevitas Creative Management represented the authors and the illustrator represented herself. This storybook Bible invites readers to join God’s movement of revolutionary love to transform society to be more just and equitable for all. It is scheduled for publication in fall 2024.

Kar-Ben Takes Two

Joni Sussman at Kar-Ben Publishing has bought world rights to Jewish Mindfulness for Kids by Blanca Sissa, to be illustrated by Camilla Carrossine. The author represented herself, and Robbin Brosterman at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator. In this simple book of exercises adapted for little ones, Judaism provides tools to achieve mindfulness through meditation. Publication is scheduled for spring 2024.

Sussman also bought world rights to Everybody's Book: The Story of the Sarajevo Haggadah by Linda Leopold Strauss and illustrated by Tim Smart. Ron Zollshan at Kirchoff Wohlberg, Inc represented the author, and Robbin Brosterman at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator. Publication is schedule for spring 2024. The story of the celebrated Sarajevo Haggadah of 1350, long lost to the world, is a tale of heroism, mystery, intrigue, war and, finally, peace, according to the publisher.

Pastors Land at Eerdmans

Lisa Ann Cockrel, acquisitions editor at Eerdmans Publishing, acquired world rights from Keely Boeving at WordServe Literary to Irreverent Prayers: Two Pastors on Talking to God When You’re Seriously Sick by Elizabeth Felicetti and Samantha Vincent-Alexander. In this collection of prayers, the authors, close friends and Episcopal priests, draw on their own experiences with serious illness to offer a model of honest dialogue with God. Publication is planned for spring 2024.

Bushel & Peck Puts Up a Fight

David and Stephanie Miles, founders of Bushel & Peck Books, bought world rights to God’s Earth is Something to Fight For by children’s author Amy Houts (God’s Protection Covers Me), to be illustrated by Kris Smolskaya. The picture book comforts, informs, and empowers children ages 4-8 to care for the earth, according to the publisher. Both author and illustrator were unagented. Publication is planned for March 2023.
