Scieszka in the Booth for Listening Library

Jon Scieszka, author of The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales and Battle Bunny, will read his new book, Frank Einstein and the Antimatter Motor, for Listening Library. The illustrator of the book, Brian Biggs, also lends his voice to the production, by voicing RoboBug, one of the products of Frank Einstein’s tinkering. The audiobook goes on sale August 26.

Welliver Makes Like Bosch for Hachette

Actor Titus Welliver is reprising his role for Hachette Audio as Harry Bosch, the detective of Michael Connelly’s long-running book series. Welliver will read the audiobook edition of Connelly’s upcoming Bosch novel, The Burning Room, while also starring as the titular detective in the new TV show, Bosch, an Amazon original series. “It’s wonderful to have the actor who will embody Harry Bosch on screen reading the book for audio,” said Connelly. “It will make the experience for the listeners of this story much deeper and fulfilling.” Welliver added, “I believe every actor hopes for that one role that will allow them to utilize every muscle. Harry Bosch is that role for me.” The audiobook will be available November 3.

Brilliance Brings In Cendese

Alexander Cendese read the first book in a new series by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth IV for Brilliance Audio. The Clandestine Operations series kicks off with Top Secret, and will feature Lt. James Cronley, a WWII officer recruited to work for the spy organization that would eventually become the CIA . The publisher called Cendese, a “young, dynamic, rugged narrator who can convincingly voice multiple characters and nationalities.” The audiobook, along with Putnam’s hardcover, went on sale on August 5.

Feinstein Records for Dreamscape

Sportswriter John Feinstein will narrate his new book, The Walk On, at Dreamscape. The audiobook, slated for publication on September 9, is the first in a new YA series about star teen athlete, Alex Myers.

Winningham Takes on Debut at S&S

We Are Not Ourselves by Matthew Thomas, a “multigenerational debut novel of an Irish-Aermican family,” will be read by actress Mare Winningham for Simon & Schuster Audio. Winningham, nominated for the 1996 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Georgia, is also a two-time Emmy winner. The audiobook will be available on CD and download on August 19.

O’Reilly Reads ‘Patton’

O’Reilly Factor host Bill O’Reilly was in the studio for Macmillan Audio last month recording the audiobook for Killing Patton, to be released on September 23. The book follows the bestselling Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy, and Killing Jesus, all of which were also narrated by O’Reilly. In the new book, O’Reilly and coauthor Martin Dugard will document the final months of World War II and General Patton’s contributions to the Allied victory, and examine his mysterious death in 1945.
