Leonard Named GLIBA Executive Director
Deborah Leonard has been named executive director of the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, succeeding Jim Dana, who is stepping down October 15. Leonard officially starts October 4 and will be at the fall trade show that starts October 8.

Abrams and Harper Media Beef Up Digital Staffs
Abrams and Harper Media have both made personnel changes to their digital divisions, marking increased efforts to move into the e-book space. Abrams has hired Lindy Humphreys, formerly of Wiley and Chronicle Books, to take on the newly created position of director of digital assets and publishing technology.

Bellevue Literary Press Promotes Two, Hires One
Bellevue Literary Press has made some title changes and a staff addition. Erika Goldman is now publisher and editorial director (she was editorial director); Leslie Hodgkins is now associate editor (he was assistant editor); and Caroline Marris has joined the house as editorial assistant.

Dystel & Goderich Literary Management has added two agents: John Rudolph and Stephanie DeVita. Rudolph was most recently executive editor at G.P. Putnam's Sons, where he oversaw books in the children's, middle grade, and young adult categories.

Schultz New 'PW' Southern Correspondent
Former Publishers Weekly reviews editor Marc Schultz has been named the magazine's southern correspondent, beginning Sept. 27. Now living in Atlanta, Schultz will report on news and developments taking place in the southeast and south-central regions. She was most recently with BGC publications and, before that, worked for Canongate Books in the UK as managing editor.

Rob Prichard Named Chairman of Penguin Canada
Rob Prichard has been named chairman of Penguin Canada. Prichard was chair of the law firm Torys LLP (which has offices in Toronto and New York) and, before that, president and CEO of Metrolinx. Prichard also served as president and CEO of the Canadian media company Torstar.

Farley Stepping Down as Head of Macmillan Children's
In a memo to his staff Monday afternoon, Dan Farley, president and publisher of Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, said he will step down from those posts sometime in the next few months.

Knudsen to Leave MPiBA
Lisa Knudsen, executive director of the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association (MPiBA) announced Friday that she is retiring at the end of this year. Knudsen is the third regional director to announce in recent weeks plans to step down at the end of the year.

Smith to Succeed Pesce at Wiley
Will Pesce will retire as president and CEO of John Wiley & Sons on April 30, the end of the company's current fiscal year, to be succeed by Stephen Smith, Wiley's chief operating officer since 2009. Pesce joined Wiley in 1989 and was named president and CEO in 1998, succeeding Charles Ellis.

Lehman Picked to Head Twelve
Hachette Book Group made good on its promise to keep the Twelve imprint alive despite the departure of founding editor/publisher Jonathan Karp by appointing Susan Lehman editor in chief and publisher. The announcement was made by Jamie Raab, executive v-p and publisher of Grand Central Publishing. Lehman will start September 27.

Adrienne Ingrum has joined Hachette's FaithWorks imprint as an editor. During her 30 year publishing career, Ingrum has held a number of positions, including roles at Crown, Putnan and Waldenbooks. Most recently she served as a consultant and edited manuscripts for a number of authors, including titles from FaithWorks authors.

Starting September 20, Kevin Lewis will join Disney Book Group's Disney-Hyperion Books as executive editor, where he will acquire and edit picture books, as well as middle-grade and young adult novels. He will report to Stephanie Owens Lurie, editorial director at Disney-Hyperion.
