I hope you’re sitting down. We’re mixing things up a little this time out.

Don’t worry. This is still a jam-packed season preview, even if it’s a little less jam-packed than usual, because—wait for it—we’ve moved comics and graphic novels out of this issue and into its own, which will be coming on January 16. The category’s doing gangbuster business, so we’ve decided to show it a little extra love.

But on to what you’ve got in your hands right now (or glowing on the screen in front of you), our spring 2023 adult announcements issue. If you’re a longtime reader of PW, you know what to expect, so go ahead and turn the page and get to the good stuff.

For the rest, here’s how the sausage got made: a couple months ago, we invited publishers to submit information on titles publishing between Feb. 1 and July 31, 2023. PW’s editors then distilled the thousands of submissions down to our selections for the notable books of spring and summer in 14 categories. Each category has a top-10 list and a longlist of picks we think are going to make some noise. (There’s also a complete database you can take a spin through at publishersweekly.com/announcements.)

Don’t forget to check this space in January for the comics announcements, and then again on February 20 for our spring children’s announcements issue.

Okay, that’s it from me. Happy reading!
